Khakha Fortress
The Khakha Fortress is a magnificent structure that may be found around 15 km away from Ishkashim, close to the settlement of Namadguti. During the third century BC, it was constructed on an elevated area that was composed of natural rocks. The Tajik Army currently has control of the citadel in question. To get access to the stronghold, one must first have authorization from the relevant authorities. There is a place that is said to be the tomb of Shah-i-Mardan Hazrat Ali, who was the son-in-law of Prophet Muhammad. This site is situated nearby.
Yamchun Fort
This is an old fortification that can be found in the Wakhen Valley around 63 kilometres away from Khakha. Ptup hamlet is around 8 kilometres away from this fort, which is also known as Zulkhomar Fort. The fort was originally constructed in the 12th century and is known for its imposing walls and circular watchtowers. The slope to the west of the fort provides stunning views of the valley as well as the fort.
Bibi Fatima Springs
The location of Bibi Fatima Springs may be found around one kilometre away from Yamchun Fort. Bibi Fatima, the Prophet Mohammed’s sister, is honoured by having her name bestowed onto these natural springs. This location has some really peculiar calcite formations that look like wombs. The natives of the area believe that these rock formations have a positive effect on a woman’s fertility. The men and women bathe at the same location, but they do so at alternating half-hour intervals.
Vrang Village
The breathtaking Buddhist stupa that can be seen in the village of Vrang may be found in the Wakhen Valley. It is thought that this stupa dates back to the 4th century. Because of the geothermal activity that takes place in this location, the stupa is now in ruins. Hermit caves are abundant in the area around the location. The hamlet also has a water-driven mill, a small museum, and a shrine, all of which are worth seeing during your time there.
Abrashim Qala
Within Wakhen Valley, you’ll find Abrashim Qala roughly four kilometres away from Langar. This fort is also known as the Silk Fortress of Zong and by its other name, Vishim Qala. It was built to protect the section of the Silk Road that runs through this area against incursions made by outside forces. From the vantage point of this fort, the valley below offers some breathtaking views.
