Ainaro Town

Ainaro is the administrative centre of the Ainaro Regency and is located around 40 kilometres from Maubisse. The journey from Maubisse to Ainaro is replete with breathtaking vistas at every turn. This location is home to a number of historic Portuguese structures, one of which is a church. The memorial of Don Aleixo Corte, a Portuguese national who was instrumental during the Second World War, is an interesting site that visitors should take the time to see. Mountaineering and hiking are two activities that are popular among locals in this area.
