Makili Village
Atauro Island is home to a well-known community called Makili. This community is well-known across the region for the high calibre of artistic creations that are created by its citizens. The people of Makili are known for their exquisite wooden baskets and figurines. Lampia Beach is an excellent spot to go if you want to take advantage of the cool beach and clean seas that are nearby the settlement.
Mt Manucoco
On the island of Atauro, the peak known as Mt. Manucoco is the highest point. From the community of Vila, the ascent to the mountain peak, which is about 3,265 feet above sea level, takes around three to four hours. From the peak of Mt. Manucoco, you get a panoramic view of the stunning landscape that surrounds you.
