Omar Ali Saifuddin Mosque
The Omar Ali Saifuddin Mosque, near the lagoon in Bandar Seri Begawan, is one of the city’s oldest mosques. The golden copula, a gorgeous carpet, and stained glassware from many countries are among the mosque’s remarkable characteristics. The mosque’s grandeur is enhanced by white marble pillars. During the night, when the mosque is lighted with green light, tourists are awestruck by the mosque’s enormous design and splendour. The mosque’s Friday prayers are attended by a huge number of residents. Tourists are only permitted to visit the mosque during non-prayer hours.
Kampung Ayer
Kampung Ayer – the lovely, leisure water village section of Bandar Seri Begawan –is located along the Brunei river and features hundreds of floating residences. Kampung Ayer is made up of roughly 30 stilt villages. On both banks of the Brunei River, several communities may be found, which are home to around 35,000 people. Hiring a taxi boat and taking a tour of Kampung Ayer and the Brunei River is the best way to see this region. Kampung Ayer’s traditionally decorated houses have almost all modern amenities, such as colour televisions, satellite TV channels, running water, and other modern appliances. Brunei Museum
Brunei Museum is located on Kota Baru Jalan Street, about 3 miles (5 km) from the city centre. The museum is home to a great collection of Islamic art and artefacts. The Islamic Arts Gallery, Oil and Gas Gallery, Traditional Culture Gallery, Archeology and History Gallery, and Temporary Exhibitions Section are among the museum’s galleries that focus on various topics. Items belonging to the Sultan and the Yang De-Pertuan of Negara Brunei Darussalam are among the greatest presentations here. The Oil and Gas Section provides an excellent overview of the country’s petroleum sector as well as the many processes involved in oil extraction and refining. Other sections have an interesting assortment of other objects.
Malay Technology Museum
The Malay Technology Museum, which is located next to the Brunei Museum, is recognised for its outstanding collection of life-size science and technology models. The museum was created to provide information about global scientific and technical advancements. There are several sections in this museum. It has a variety of scientific models on show in various rooms, as well as life-size versions of stilt dwellings. A variety of models are used to provide information about the region’s customs and culture.
Royal Regalia Museum
The Royal Regalia Museum, which is near to the city centre, is a notable attraction in Bandar Seri Begawan. The museum was established in 1992 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Sultan Abdullah’s ascension to the throne. It’s an excellent resource for learning about the royal family. The collection is organised into two categories: Royal Items and Brunei Constitution Exhibition. Wardrobes, gowns, jewellery, ceremonial regalia, royal presents, and other objects are among the royal articles. A variety of papers and texts are among the items in the second group.
Jame’ Asr Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque
The Jame’ Asr Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque is a majestic Islamic structure in Gadong, a few kilometres from Bandar Seri Begawan. It is located on Hassan Bolkiah street and is also known as Kiarong Mosque. It is the country’s largest mosque and was built to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Sultan’s ascension to the throne. Beautiful pillars, artistically ornamented minarets, and a golden dome can be found in the mosque. On Thursday and Friday, it is closed to non-Muslims. A lovely garden with fountains and pitcher plants is located near the mosque.
Istana Nurul Imam
The Royal Palace of Brunei, Istana Nurul Imam, is located on Tutong Street and is one of the world’s biggest palaces. Most tourists are impressed by the palace’s majestic architecture. When the structure is completely lighted at night, it appears more appealing. The building’s interiors are similarly stunning, with full ornamentation. The palace is located on the Brunei River’s banks. This structure has over 2000 rooms. This castle is only open to the general public during Ramadan. Beautiful views of the palace may be enjoyed along the river or from Taman Persiaran Damuan Park, which is close to the palace.
Muara Beach
Muara Beach, also known as Pantai Muara, is a popular tourist attraction in Muara town, which is roughly 15 miles (24 km) northeast of Bandar Seri Begawan. The beach is around 1.2 miles (2 km) from Muara town. On weekends, a great number of tourists go to this white sandy beach. Walking down the beach’s lengthy walkway is a wonderful experience.
Jerudong Park Playground
The Jerudong Park Playground, which spans a large area, is essentially an amusement park designed specifically for children. This park offers a variety of rides for children to enjoy. Brunei Arts & Handicrafts Center
Brunei Arts & Handicrafts Center was founded in 1975 to conserve the region’s vanishing arts and handicrafts. It was originally located in Kampong Perpindahan Berakas, but in 1984 it was relocated to its current location. Songkok, weavings, baskets, cutlery, brassware, and other items are all on exhibit in the centre. Traditional clothing can also be purchased at the center’s showroom. The centre also provides training to anyone who want to learn about the region’s art and skill.
Brunei River
The magnificent Brunei River is the lifeblood of Bandar Seri Begawan, which is located on the river’s northern bank. This river is home to a diverse range of marine vegetation and wildlife, including floral plants, ferns, insects, prawns, fish, bats, crabs, and other creatures. Tomb of Sultan Bolkiah
Sultan Bolkiah’s Tomb is located around 2 miles (3.2 km) from the city centre.
It is near to the Sharif Ali Tomb. Sultan Bolkiah, Brunei’s fifth Sultan, is regarded as one of the country’s most capable rulers. The Sultan’s mausoleum is built in the style of a domed building and is an excellent example of Brunei’s Sultanate architectural style.
