Wat Phra Kaew Don Tao
On the northern side of Mae Wang is where you’ll find the temple of Wat Phra Kaew Don Tao. The Emerald Buddha, which was housed in this wat for 32 years during the 15th century and is currently housed at Wat Phra Kaew in Bangkok, is the reason why this wat is so well-known. The architectural style of the stupa at the wat is similar to that of hariphunchai architecture. A mandop crafted in the Burmese manner and dating back to 1909 may be found nearby. A Buddha image crafted in the Mandalay style is maintained in this particular mandop. The Lanna Museum may be found within the wat and has a variety of relics and objects related to religion.
Wat Chedi Sao
About 5 kilometres to the north of Lampang is where you’ll find Wat Chedi Sao. This temple is famous for its twenty stupas designed in the Lanna style. The golden Buddha statue, which dates back to the 15th century and is the most famous feature of this temple, is the most popular attraction. It is widely held in the Buddhist community that this statue holds a fragment of Buddha’s skull. A stunning statue of Aualokiteshvara can be seen here, and it can be found standing at the intersection of two streets. This picture is adorned with valuable stones, and as a result, it has a really alluring appearance.
Baan Sao Nak
Many Pillars House, also known as Baan Sao Nak, can be found in the historic district of Wiang Neua in Lampang. This enormous home was built out of teak in the 19th century. It was constructed in the traditional manner of the Lanna people, and it has 116 teak pillars that serve as support for the structure. The home has been converted into a museum and has a collection of ancient artefacts from both Burma and Thailand. Ceramics, handmade items, silverwork, bronzeware, and other types of ware are only some of the things that have been arranged for exhibition over three distinct rooms.
Wat Phra That Lampang Luang
Wat Phra That Lampang Luang is a temple that dates back to the late 15th century and can be found around 18 km southwest of Lampang. It is a beautiful Lanna temple that is constructed entirely of wood and dates back to the 15th century. The main hall of the temple has a three-tiered wooden roof over its ceiling. It is stated that this hall is the oldest structure in the nation built entirely of wood that is still standing. A stupa from the middle of the 15th century rises next to the hall. The Wihan Ton Kaew, the Wihan Phra Phut, the Wihan Nam Taew, and the Haw Phra Phutthabaht are some of the other important buildings in the temple complex.
Thai Elephant Conservation Center
The Thai Elephant Conservation Center may be found near Amphoe Hang Chat, which is to the northwest of Lampang. The facility was founded in order to encourage ecotourism that involves spending time with elephants and to offer quality medical treatment for ailing elephants. The facility occupies a space that is about 3014 acres in size. Visitors are treated to a variety of unique performances while they are here, including musical acts, bathing acts, and others. You may also have an exciting experience by riding on elephants. In addition, there are exhibits that focus on the history and culture of this species.
