Old Town
Dayan is the native name for Lijiang’s Old Town. Old Naxi homes with wooden gates and legendary motifs carved on the walls abound in this area. Sifang is the Old Town’s major marketplace, with numerous restaurants and stores offering copper pots, wooden carvings, needlework, and other products. There are several souvenir stores in the Dong Dajie neighbourhood that sell unique gifts.
Lion Mountain Park
The Lion Mountain Park is located in Lijiang’s Old Town. The park stretches from the Lion Mountain in the west to the Elephant Mountain in the north, just a few hundred metres from Square Street. The park’s tranquil atmosphere and wonderful vistas of large expanses of greenery are enough to impress tourists.
Jade Dragon Snow Mountain
The Yunnan province’s Jade Dragon Snow Mountain is a glacier. Shanzidou is the highest of the mountain’s 13 summits. Geologists think that this mountain was once an ocean that was transformed into a mountain due to lithosphere changes. You can see this beautiful mountain from Lijiang’s Old Town or from the gardens below the peak, which are about 15 kilometres away. This magnificent peak is blanketed in snow all year and seems to be a Jade Dragon from afar, earning it the name Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. In the area, you may also visit the Natural Glacier Museum.
