Sala Kaew Ku Sculpture Park
Luang Pu Boun Leua Sourirat, a mystic shaman, was the one responsible for the construction of the Sala Kaew Ku Sculpture Park. This park is home to a number of sculptures depicting various Hindu and Buddhist gods, such as Vishnu, Shiva, and Buddha, amongst others. The park also has statues commemorating notable historical personalities, temple benefactors, and moments from the boyhood of Luang Pu. Under the mystic’s direction, the sculptures were all crafted by artists who lacked the necessary experience. The Wheel of Life and a statue of Buddha perched on the head of a naga are a few of the other well-known sculptures that can be seen here.
Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge
Ban Jommane, which is located close to Nong Khai, and Tha Na Laeng, which is located in Laos are now connected by the Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge, which was built over the Mekong River. The construction of the bridge began in 1994 with the intention of enhancing the flow of traffic between Thailand and Laos. The financing for the construction of the bridge came from Australia and cost around $30 million. The length of the bridge is about 3852 feet, and it has two lanes for vehicles, two walkways, and room for a railroad track.
Wat Pho Chai
The location of Wat Pho Chai may be found towards the southeast of Nong Khai. The Lan Xang era is represented by the big Buddha that can be seen within the temple. The picture is famous for the priceless embellishments that it has. The image’s golden head and bronze body give it a distinguished and alluring appearance. It is thought that the picture began in Laos and then made its way to Wat Pradit Thammakum in Mekong before making its way to Wat Pho Chai in the 19th century. The picture of Phra Sai, or Buddha, is brought out of the temple and carried in a procession through the streets of the town during the celebration of Songkran, which takes place here every year in April.
Phra That Nong Khai
Stupa of Phra That Nong Khai The stupa of Phra That Nong Khai may be found in the midst of the Mekong River. Phra That Klang Nam is another name for it, and the only time of year that you can see it is when it is dry out. The renovated riverbank promenade offers the ideal vantage point for viewing the stupa. The beach is located in the Ban Jommani neighbourhood, which is adjacent to the Thai-Lao friendship bridge. The beach is only accessible when there is sufficient rainfall.
