Singapore Zoo, Singapore

The Singapore Zoo first opened its doors in 1973 and now occupies a space that is 69 acres in size and is surrounded by densely forested areas. It is also referred to as the Mandai Zoo, and Wildlife Reserves Singapore is in charge of managing it. Approximately 3,000 animals from 290 different species may be seen in the zoo.

The zoo is founded on the idea of an open-zoo, which means that the animals here are housed in open areas that have been planted to take the shape of miniature ecosystems. These regions are enclosed by large walls and realistic pits that are filled with water on all sides. The polar bears, the Malayan tigers, the elephants of Asia, the cheetah, and the sea lions are the most popular animals to see at the zoo. Dangerous animals such as lions and leopards are housed in a separate section of the zoo that has glass walls on all sides. Orangutans are another famous species that call the zoo home, and guests get the opportunity to share their meals with these animals. Many breeding initiatives for endangered animals have been started at the zoo, and some of them have been successful.

You are able to get various educational and learning materials from the zoo that are aimed to transmit messages on the value of animal life and the need of preserving it. The zoo provides a variety of mobility options such as trams, buggies, horse carriage rides, motorised wheelchairs, and so on. At the zoo’s Forest Lodge, you may also have get-togethers for friends and family as well as parties.
