Sri Lanka, popularly known as the “Pearl of the East,” is one of the world’s most beautiful countries. It is an island kingdom off the coast of India in the Indian Ocean. Sri Lanka is a tourist’s dream, with a wealth of natural wonders and cultural wonders.  It boasts practically everything a tourist would want to see in a country: beautiful beaches, lush green hills, tumbling waterfalls, fascinating natural life, ancient architecture, spice gardens, and tea farms.

Sri Lanka has a more than 2500-year-old civilisation history. The country is proud of its traditions, which include vibrant festivals, traditional dances, costumes, and arts, as well as a perfect blend of many races and religions. The primary ethnic groupings in this country of about 20 million people include Sinhalese, Tamil, Moor, Burgher, Malay, and Vedda. Buddhism is Sri Lanka’s most popular religion, with roughly 71 percent of the people adhering to it. Hinduism, Christianity, and Islam are other major faiths practised here.

Sri Lanka has a tropical climate due to its proximity to the equator. The weather in the lowlands and along the coast is hot and humid, with bright sunny days. All year long, the hills provide cool and pleasant weather. The ideal time to visit this island country is between November and April.
