Museum of History and Ethnography

Mestia, which is the regional capital of the Svaneti region, is home to the Museum of History and Ethnography. The museum has an impressive collection of holy relics and other very valuable artefacts from Georgia that date back to the 9th century. This museum is a great place to take in both the natural and artistic splendour of Svaneti. Two metal jugs that were associated with Queen Tamar and King Georgi III are among the most interesting artefacts that can be found at this location. Incense burners are the oldest of the antiques that are currently on show here.

Ethnographic Museum

The Zhibiani Ethnographic Museum may be found inside of a tower in the city. It has a valuable collection of artefacts that were donated by a variety of Ushguli’s churches. These things include icons of the Virgin Mary, Christ, Gabriel, and Michael, who are the archangels. Among the other pieces are representations of Tevdore and Saint George.
