Taiwan Tourism

Taiwan, popularly called the ‘Mountainous Island,’ is one of Asia’s most rich and prospering countries. The nation is located 102 miles (165 km) off the coast of mainland China. Taiwan is located south of Japan, north of the Philippines, and south of Okinawa. It is known for its sky-touching mountains, some of which reach heights of over 9843 feet (3,000 m). Aside from that, the country’s abundance of natural treasures includes gorgeous coastal lines, lovely lakes, forests, rivers, and some charming islands.

There are no concrete evidences of Taiwan’s ancient past. Some historians believe the nation began receiving people from Austronesia around 10,000 BC. The island was ruled by many powers from the early 16th century until the mid-20th century, including the Portuguese, Dutch, Spanish, Manchu dynasty, and Japanese. During these 400 years, the island also experienced large populations of people coming from China to settle in this region.

Following Japan’s defeat in World War II, China seized control of Taiwan. When Communist forces took control in China in 1949, Kuomintang (KMT) party members migrated to Taiwan, assisting in the formation of modern Taiwan. Taiwan’s ties with China have never been easy in the last 50 years. For China, Taiwan is a part its national territory. Many people in Taiwan desire to be reunited with China. Many Taiwanese, on the other hand, want their country to be independent.

Taiwan has a rich indigenous culture as well as a liberal society with a wide range of religious beliefs. Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism are the country’s three primary faiths. Other religions practised by a tiny percentage of the population include Christianity, Mormonism, the Unification Church, Islam, and Hinduism.
