Qobustan Museum

This museum, located in the Qobustan, provides an overview of the Qobustan petroglyphs. The petroglyphs from the early Stone Age depict human figures in full proportion, whilst those from subsequent times are less in size but more creative. You may try your hand at playing an ancient musical instrument made of tambourine stone. A guided tour is provided for tourists, and it is definitely worth spending a few dollars to fully comprehend the exhibits.

Qobustan Petroglyps

This is the place where primitive man lived in caverns around 12000 years ago during the Stone Age, located a short distance from Qobustan town, around 60 km south of Baku. This site has almost 6000 petroglyphs. There are several evidences of Stone Age humans living in this area. Ethnologists come here to reconnect the historical dots. This site was found in the 1930s and has since become a popular destination for ethnologists and visitors.

Qobustan Roman Graffiti

The Roman Graffiti location is roughly 1.2 miles (2 kilometres) from the petroglyphs. It’s on the left side of the jail complex. The graffiti is thought to be from the first century AD and has faded to the point that it is impossible to read and see properly. It is thought to have been produced by Julisu Maximus during the reign of Emperor Titus Flavius Domitianus.

Qobustan Mud Volcanoes

This is a wonderful place to see, located around 6.2 miles (10 km) from Qobustan town. It is perched on the crest of a hill surrounded by miniature volcano-like mounds. These mounds may be seen gurgling and oozing and occasionally spewing mud from their mouths. The location provides beautiful views of the mountains and the Caspian Sea. The area is normally desolate, and only a few residents are aware of its existence.
